Family Law
Family Law
If you are not married, but need help with parenting, child support, or partner support in the Court of King's Bench or the Alberta Court of Justice, we are here to help.
Divorce
If you are legally married, intend to separate, or have already separated, from your spouse and need help filing for divorce, including addressing parenting, child support, spousal support and division of your family property, we can help every step of the way.
Family Property
Whether you are getting into or getting out of a family relationship, proper planning is essential. We can assist you with your cohabitation agreement, "pre-nup" or "post-nup" contracts, a separation agreement, Minutes of Settlement, or any step in your family property litigation.
"I can't afford a lawyer"
Hiring a lawyer can be expensive, but going without legal advice can cost you even more. In addition to full representation, we offer flat fee consultations and limited scope services tailored to your situation.
Relationship Contract Review
Do you have a Cohabitation Agreement? Prenupital Agreement? Post-Nupital Contract? Adult Interdependent Relationship Agreement? When was the last time you reviewed the terms? Have your life circumstances changed? Has the law changed? Is the agreement still fair and equitable? We offer flat fee consultations to review your contract and advise you on what it means for you now.
Should I leave?
Are you wondering if you should leave your relationship? We offer confidential consultations to review your options and explain the possible legal consequences to aid you in making a decision.
Family Focused Protocol
The Court of King's Bench in Alberta has changed how they deal with family law cases effective January 2, 2026. With a focus on out-of-court processes and encouraging families to come up with their own agreements through mediation, many family disputes can be finalized without ever stepping foot in a courthouse. However, if you do need the Court's assistance, we can help you navigate the new process and appear in Court to advocate for you as needed.
Flat Fees and Discounted Rates in Some Cases
If you are committed to staying out of court and want to tailor a settlement that is unique to your family restructuring situation, we can provide the professional advice and guidance to get you there. We offer a flat fee structure for these cases with a "stay out of court discount" on our regular hourly rates.
